Jeff is father, husband, teacher, friend and all around great guy. He is a preschool special education teacher and has worked for the Heritage Education Program in a variety of roles for over 15 years. Jeff and his wife have been married for over 10 years now and have 3 beautiful girls.
Jeff suffers from a genetic kidney disease that caused his kidneys to fail in his late teens. Jeff was lucky enough to get a kidney transplant in 1999 from his father, but in October 2016 his kidney ceased to function. Jeff now requires dialysis to keep him alive. While dialysis is a life-saving procedure, it is very taxing on his body and his family’s life. Jeff performs dialysis 5 days a week for an average of 3 hours a day. Jeff’s best hope is to receive a kidney transplant. He is currently on the transplant list at ECMC. A kidney transplant would offer him more freedom and a longer, healthier, more normal life.
