On Saturday, May 6th Unyts participated for the third year in an exciting event with the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus. Hundreds of students, parents and teachers attended this event to learn about careers in clinical care, research, education and entrepreneurship in the hospitals, research institutes, and other organizations on the Medical Campus. Unyts was stationed in the Gates Vascular Institute and had a lot of great learning opportunities for everyone including:

  • Learn how to prepare a kidney for transplant
  • Hold and feel organ molds
  • Try on the organ apron
  • Observe tissue samples, including:
  • Bone & connective tissue
  • Veins
  • Heart valves
  • Skin
  • Amnion
  • Experience what it is like to be visually impaired
  • Learn about the process of recovering tissues and eyes
  • Find out your blood type
  • Learn about the process of collecting blood
  • Take the blood transfusion challenge
  • How do your kidneys work? Hands on activity
