7th Annual Donate Life Walk for Unyts

The Donate Life Walk will honor and celebrate all donors, recipients, their families and friends and educate, engage and inspire about the need for and lifesaving benefits of organ, eye, tissue and blood donation. There are currently over 116,000 people waiting for a transplant, and about 22 people die each day because they did not receive the organ they needed. In addition, 1 in 7 people entering a hospital need blood. The need is constant, and events like the Donate Life Walk work to bring awareness to this public health crisis.

WHO: Organ, eye, tissue and blood recipients, living donors, blood donors, donor families and supporters. Over 600 participants have already registered. Donor families will carry green balloons, organ recipients will carry white balloons, living donors will carry yellow balloons and supporters will carry blue balloons.

WHAT: A 1.78 mile walk around Delaware Park, memorial activities, a picnic lunch for all guests, kids zone, crafts, music and more. The event is free to all who register, but individuals and teams are given the opportunity to fundraise at www.donatelifewalk.com.

WHEN: Saturday, September 23rd. Registration will begin at 10am and the Walk will begin at 11am.

WHERE: Delaware Park at Amherst and Colvin

Unyts is Western New York’s only organ, eye, tissue and community blood center.
