Bradley James Fagan

Bradley James Fagan only lived two months before he became an organ donor. Bradley was born on August 26, 2015. He was so handsome, so smart, so lovey and just such a great baby. He was so special, he brought family and friends that has not been connected for years all back together.

He came home on August 28 and everything was great. He was good for most nights with sleeping, normal baby stuff, feedings and diapers. He loved his Mickey Mouse; every morning he had to be in his swing in front of the TV to watch Mickey Mouse Club House. He would smile so big and would let out such a cute little giggle. He started to coo and started to become aware of his surroundings. He was so tiny and just lit up the room. He went to school events, out to dinner and just went out a lot.

Everywhere I went, he was right there. On October 24, I stepped away, leaving Bradley in his father’s care while I ran out to help my grandma do errands. I’d been gone for two hours when I got a phone call from stating that Bradley couldn't breathe, that he suffocated himself with his own blanket. My mom and dad met me and we rushed to the hospital. As soon as I walked into his room, my heart let go, I felt weak and just couldn't function properly. I dove onto him crying, hugging him and praying that he would be okay, that nothing bad would happen. As I stayed by his side, I noticed that nothing was changing.

The next day the truth finally came out. His father admitted to shaking Bradley and thought he had hurt his neck and so he put him back down and went back to sleep. My heart was completely shattered now. I was still trying to have hope and to believe that Bradley would make it out of this, but it was too late.

On October 26, 2015, Bradley was pronounced dead. I made the decision to make him an organ donor. It was such a hard thing to do, but in the end he gave his heart to a little girl who is still thriving and his liver went to a 1-year-old boy. Bradley gave that little boy the gift of time, though as he passed away a bit after receiving the liver.

I know that my son is still alive because his heart is still beating inside that little girl. He will forever be my hero!
