Raymond J. Ott became an eye and tissue donor upon his passing in February 2009.

His daughter Annmarie nominated him as hero to be honored.

Raymond J. Ott of Buffalo was born May 4, 1930. A longtime Western New York resident, he was also a U.S. military veteran.

“He served in the Korean War,” shared his daughter, Annmarie. “He got shot in both legs and did not want to be discharged. He stayed another two years in the army.”

Asked what she would share about him, Annmarie said, “Whatever life throws at you, don't give up, keep going.”

When he passed away on February 20, 2009, Raymond Ott was 78 years old. He became an eye and tissue donor.

“He was well known in the community,” Annmarie said. His life and gift are remembered. “Every year on his birthday we give a party in honor of him.”
